Draw and paint Mystique X-men pin up girl digital painting X men first class Mystique step by step and video tutorial. I thought it would be fun to draw and paint some kind of a pin up girl this time. And I also got inspired by the new x men movie that will be coming out soon. This tutorial is actually very long, it took me about 3-4 days to try to finish the whole painting, at first I was just planing on doing a portrait study tutorial, but I thought there are too many of them on the blog. On one of the older tutorial post called how to draw Anime foreshortening hand that I just recently reworked on has some extreme foreshortening drawing in Anime style. So I thought I should somehow implement that into this tutorial and make it more appealing with interesting pose for the character. Then I start changing my composition around and add the extreme foreshortening into my pin up girl painting. It took me a long time to figure out how to do foreshortening in the realistic fashion without making it look much like a cartoon. The hard part is actually to make it look proportionally correct and make it look like a dynamic drawing. It takes a lot of looking at your own hands in the mirror (did I mention that artists should have a mirror on their working desk? easy to use yourself as a reference sometimes, just a tip). Anyway, so here it is Mystique from X men first class
A bit about X Men first class: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN. X-Men: First Class, due for release on June 3, 2011, is directed by Matthew Vaughn. There will be the young Professor X, and Erik Lensherr, who becomes Magneto. It is a prequel focusing on "the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where their relationship took a wrong turn." The villains of the film will be the Hellfire Club, featuring Sebastian Shaw, and Emma Frost. And of course the young Mystique. X-Men: First Class began principal photography in September 2010 in London.

How to paint Metal Gear Solid Raiden. Drawing MGS (Metal Gear Solid) Raiden digital painting tutorial. This post is a quick speedpainting digital painting demo of drawing and painting Raiden character from the latest Metal Gear solid gaming series. So I just saw the trailer not too long ago and I think it so badass that I have to somehow scribble the character study out. This one is just a quick painting of the character portrait, it is more like a study or something like that rather than an actual concept art. It's early in the morning so I thought it would be good to do a quick sketch in the morning and I think I'm going to do it regularly since I have more time nowadays.
So here are the basic steps, I usually just start out scribble then create some kind of a silhouette or shapes that are readable. Then I will go in and give it some lighting so it would create form. That's how I usually paint.
For figures and bodies study, muscles and human anatomy for artist go watch Drawing body muscle torso anatomy each comes with both video and step by step images along the side and Drawing arm muscles bicep tricep video. Have fun watching. Well, hope these short video tutorials and tips are helpful.

How to draw body step by step. Drawing and painting lesson instruction with images. Character concept design Sinbad the Sailor. Here is a post of how I re-imagine one of my most favorite and memorable character, Sinbad the Sailor. I got exposed to the magical world of Sinbad early on watching the film conceptualized and animated by Ray Harryhausen(it was old, and the re-run usually comes on TV when I was a little kid). The very first one I saw is Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, then The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
I pretty much saw almost every single movie that Ray Harryhausen involves in. Also "Clash of the Titans", but it already been just remade. I was thinking about re-conceptualize it, but maybe later. I believe it was before I can read or draw. Before I get to read any Manga, Comics or watch any anime, well with the exception of the old "Karmen Raider" re-run. I could say it was my really early influence for having interested in art, concept and animation. What was on my mind at the time was probably, how the hell did they do that...how did those monsters, creatures come to live! So here is my attempt to conceptualize and sketch my own Sinbad. In this post I first start just sketching the body or figure itself, not even attempting to put him on the scene or having any composition in mind. But then I cannot help but try to put him in the jungle and add some different lighting that might help bring the illustration to life. It doesn't turn out bad at all, but I wouldn't really recommend you do that. Planing is always the best way to produce your cinematic or environment conceptual work for sure. It's almost finish, all I have to do is add a few bad fellas in the black clothes with weapon hiding around the environment. Here is a bit about Sinbad, I'm sure you've heard of him in some form of media.
There will probably be more of Sinbad stuff coming again if I am still in the groove. yeah :)
Sinbad the Sailor is a fictional sailor from Basrah, living during the Abbasid Caliphate - the hero of a story-cycle of Middle Eastern origin. During his voyages throughout the seas east of Africa and south of Asia, he has fantastic adventures going to magical places, meeting monsters, and encountering supernatural phenomena. Sinbad is a Persian word hinting at a Persian origin. In fact some scholars believe that it is originally a Persian work, perhaps based on an Indian prototype. The oldest texts of the cycle are however in Arabic, and no ancient or medieval Persian version has survived. A variation of the name, Smbat, can also be found in Armenia, as well as the version Lempad of his father's name Lambad.
The Sindhi Sailors, who became famous due to their skills in: navigation, geography and languages may very well have inspired some of the stories of Sindbad ("And thence we fared on to the land of Sind, where also we bought and sold"). Incidents in some stories are also clearly influenced by ancient literary sources (including Homer's Odyssey and Vishnu Sarma's Panchatantra), and Arab, Indian and Persian folklore and literature.

Draw and paint chimera. Digital painting video tutorial Creature concept design. Here is the final painting of the creature Chimera (well, it is 95% there I just thought I would touch up some of the stuff a little bit more.) Continue from the previous post, Draw and Paint mythology creature Chimera. Also if you can to watch the video of how to draw a lion prior to the painting video tutorial I have on this post just plain old drawing and sketching.
Anyway, I would probably do more of the creatures in the up coming post...and possibly mecha. Depending on what I see and what inspire me at the moment. But for sure I will always draw, paint and keep updating this blog, hopefully forever. And hopefully I will get better as I do more and more. That usually how it works, the more you draw or paint and study, the better you get. Sometimes slow, but sometimes you have a break through...but as long as you do it and it makes you happy then nothing else really matters.
So this one I finish up the rendering of the creature, add the serpent tail, then the figure that later on becomes the Monkey king for no particular reason. The figure is there for the sole reason of exaggerating the massive scale and size of the Chimera monster. Then I thought it would be kind of fun to put Sun Wukong there just because it does not make sense that the Greek Mythology would mix up with Eastern Mythical figures. Below are the step by step and the final rendition of the painting. Also basic to intermediate anatomy drawing instruction video, they are short but get right to the point and will be useful for studying muscles and human anatomy for artist go watch Drawing body muscle torso anatomy video & step by step and Drawing arm muscles bicep tricep video. If any of you are living in Seattle or Western Washington area, my good friend and colleague, Jason is teaching a live drawing on digital tablet at Cage Academy in Seattle.
Draw and paint chimera a mythology creature monster design. This post is somewhat related to the previous post, How to draw lion head study. Intentionally I was going to do a creature tutorial and one of the creature that are often under represent is Chimera. So I am doing a step by step and video tutorial of how to draw and paint the Chimera creature from Greek Mythology. Well, originally it does have wings, but I put them in because I thought that would make it more powerful and such. A brief statement about the creature, Homer's brief description in the Iliad is the earliest surviving literary reference: "a thing of immortal make, not human, lion-fronted and snake behind, a goat in the middle, and snorting out the breath of the terrible flame of bright fire". Anyway, I usually started off with just line drawn to get a sense of shapes, forms and possibly composition. Then I will just go into the image and block out the big shape as a whole first. Then later I will define the main shape using values, most likely two to three values should be enough to get the illustration going. As an underpainting or speedpainting, you don't need much of values or color to represent your image. Just enough to make it read, but most of all the lighting is a crucial element. Because lighting is very much every thing (or it make image visible) so I am trying to painting according to the light. Whatever is in the shadow, will basically has similar values, not necessary exactly the same, but real close.
Here is what I have so far, it is still work in progress.
Creature design work in progress.
